Intean Poalroath Rongroeurng Ltd (IPR)
An estimated 85 percent of Cambodians live in rural areas and depend on agricultural cultivation for their livelihood. Facilitating access to capital will directly benefit some of the poorest and most overlooked segments of Cambodian society. Intean Poalroath Rongrouerng (IPR), meaning Credit, Population and Prosperity in Khmer, is a microfinance institution that strives to provide financial services to Cambodia’s agricultural businesses and farmers.
Cambodia’s agriculture and agro-industry sectors have great potential for economic growth and poverty alleviation. Rice production alone has increased by more than 50 percent since 2005. However, these sectors suffer from fragmented supply chains, low productivity and underdeveloped infrastructure. These limitations stem from a shortage of capital, a reliance on old cultivation techniques, and low quality seeds.
IPR’s vision and mission is to sustainably provide the best financial products to fit the needs of farmers working to improve their livelihoods.
Vision
"To be the leading Cambodian microfinance institution serving the agricultural sector."
Mission
"To provide convenient financial services adapted to agriculture-related businesses in order to improve the economic conditions of farmers while sustaining the institution's profitable growth."
